President
The President acts as the chief executive officer of the Association by presiding at all business meetings, serving as Chair of the Leadership Team, ensuring appointment by the Leadership Team of members for all committees, and providing support and liaison to all standing committees.
List of responsibilities
The job description encompasses the responsibilities, but the President has the opportunity to ‘fill the gaps’ in leading on tasks that don’t neatly fall under another position. In the past, this has included:
Leading recurring group engagement, such as Independent Consultants or Student groups
Facilitating and managing Leadership Meetings, which typically includes compiling the agenda, facilitating discussion on project updates and milestones, taking meeting notes, and following up with action items.
Organizing the affiliate’s presence at the AEA conference (and attending the LAC conference immediately before or after the main conference)
Note in the Charter and as part of our status as an AEA affiliate, we have stated that the President and President-Elect must be dues-paying members of AEA throughout their tenure.
Other Leadership team tasks/activities
This year has included oversight over some pieces that may not be necessary going forward. These include:
Maintaining presence on bank account and holding ‘company’ debit card. Some things we need to pay for (Zoom, domain registration, Wild Apricot subscription, etc.) require payment by card. The President being the only one with access to this card allows for a good ‘check’ on spending by the Finance Officer.
Ensuring appropriate state and federal forms are filled to maintain federal 501c3 status and non-profit corporation status.
President holds the Admin right to the Google Suite account through the info@evalseattle.org address.
